Caterham F1

.

Suddenly our little cars have a visible F1 connection!

There's a certain 'completion-of-the-circle' in this week's placement of the Caterham brand on the Team Lotus F1 car that brings the name right into the pinnacle of motorsport. The brand carries the ubiquitous association with the Seven that was banned from racing other marques, nearly 50 years ago, for being too fast! Having been in continuous production since then, as a Lotus and now Caterham, there's a strange irony in seeing the two brands together, let alone in a formula 1 Grand Prix. Does that mean we can all now re-badge our cars with the iconic Lotus roundel without the feeling of pretence?

Caterham themselves have aligned their latest offering smartly with the F1 team look, so why not!?
It's a shame that the F1 car isn't the competition beater that the 7 is! Let's hope F1 Team Lotus/Caterham can win some points this weekend at Silverstone. That would be nice.

(Update:Sunday. No points then...both Team Lotus cars DNF'd with gearbox issues.)
