The End of a Dream

Do you remember our article about the oldest truck racing in Dakar Rally? Well, we have bad news.

The oldest truck enlisted in this year Dakar Rally edition has withdrawn in the fifth stage (Chilecito - Fiambala) of the adventure. When we write this article: Jeep Estanciera: The oldest car in Dakar, we get to know a group of passionate guys with a particular car and sense of taste to participate in the hardest race of the world.

Miguel Santorelli and Daniel Crova with tears in the eyes told us: "It was very hard and we gave everything in the race".
"We broke the steering system, the night caught us repairing it, but we bogged down three times. Then we broke a rear axle shaft and we had to withdrawn" he added.

This happened after a hard argument between Santorelli and Crova, this was shown in television and became one of the "fun" episodes of the Dakar Rally.

The Jeep "Estanciera" was manufactured by Industrias Kaiser Argentina(IKA) between 1957 and 1970. "Industria Argentina, Argentina passion," said his motto, with which he wanted to show that a team with few resources, domestic labor, and passion could give a decent battle.

Santorelli had prepared the "Estanciera" in Necochea. The car had the number 454 and was enrolled in the class T1, the division of supercharged gasoline vehicles, 4x4 rigid axle with an engine Cherokee 4 liter direct injection and has about 230 horsepower.
