Global Site : After several days of trouble, end the Blackberry service back to normal. Services like Blackberry Messenger, e-mail, and browsing the Internet disrupted since Monday (10/11/2011) local time in several countries.
According to RIM, the service is disrupted due to damage hardware servers located in Europe. This damage was not only an impact in Europe alone. Countries in the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, even in the U.S. and Canada were affected.
Due to interruption of BlackBerry service, RIM is expected to lose more than 100 million U.S. dollars. This is raised by Rod Page, an analyst with JPMorgan Chase. Estimated number of losses, according to Hal, obtained from the calculation of monthly fees earned from your RIM Blackberry service for each user.
RIM and the operator has a contractual agreement that establishes standards of service up-time ratio of RIM's servers. With the destruction of RIM's servers for four days, of course, has passed the minimum ratio of up time in the contract. This condition requires RIM to pay compensation to the operator. However, there has been no official confirmation from RIM on this amount must be paid.
Founder and Co-CEO of RIM, Mike Lazaridis specifically apologized for the problems on the BlackBerry service in these countries. Specifically, the RIM recorded his statement in the video that was launched at the company's YouTube channel and posted on his website.
